PUBLIC SCHOOL HOLIDAYS


In Maryland, if federal and State observances of a holiday fall on different days, each local board of education determines on which date the holiday will be observed in its public schools (Code Education Article, sec. 7-103).

January 1 New Year's Day
January 17 (Monday) Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
April 21 - 24 Good Friday through the day after Easter
May 29 (Monday) Memorial Day
November 7 (Tuesday) Presidential Election Day*
November 11 Veterans' Day
November 23 (fourth Thursday), & 24 Thanksgiving Day and the day after
December 24 - 31 Christmas Eve through end of year
