PREFACE.
IN this second volume of the Supplement to the Code, the legislation of the
last Session of the General Assembly is codified, and with the volumes hereto-
fore published, it contains the whole of the Statute Law of this State, to the
end of the Session of 1864.
As will be noticed, this volume conforms to the arrangement adopted for the
Code, and observed in the First Supplement. By means of this conformity,
changes in the Statute Law, are easily seen and comprehended.
Due respect for the words of the Acts of Assembly has been observed, and the
profession and the public may rely on having the Laws of the Last Session
accurately given in this compilation.
It has been deemed unnecessary to give the Private Acts in full, as was done
in the First Supplement; an Appendix, however, contains a complete Index to
all the Laws of a Local and Private nature, arranged under appropriate heads.
The Indices and Tables will be found correct and ample, and convenient for
reference. We have noted when each Act went into force or was passed; and
also referred to the First Supplement, and to the Acts as codified in this compi-
lation, whenever it was considered explanatory or illustrative.
We have included in this volume the New Constitution of Maryland, with
an ample Commentary, Index, Notes and References. The Statutory and
Fundamental Law of this State, is thus presented continuous and complete.
The Publishers have endeavored to arrange the Contents in a convenient and
practical form, and hope it will meet with the approval of the Profession and
the Public.
